New Running Gear
I’ve never been a long distance runner. Always competed in explosive sports - wrestling, sprinting, powerlifting, etc. I just accepted that I wasn’t gifted the gas tank needed to do anything over a mile.
That was until a year or two ago… :::wishy washy whirly sounds and spirals:::
I was telling this to my barber, a great runner, and he said, “You just need to slow down.”
He then explained that most of his runs are minutes off of his race pace.
This may be obvious to many of you, but for me, I literally went out and always just tried to best my old time for whatever short running route I was taking. I thought that’s how you got better. It made me hate running because it was so painful.
So I gave his advice a go and quickly found out 2 things:
Slowing down is way more pleasant
Things actually get easier after a certain mileage (this blew my mind)
For me, this was after mile 2 or 3. After mile 2 or 3 my body stops fighting and sinks into the run - turns out, my first mile is almost always the slowest.
Couldn’t believe it. Something that I used to dread became something that I genuinely look forward to - Mostly for the mental benefits I get from it.
Enter Running Belt:
Sweating + Sunlight = Endorphin paradise, so I try to run around the hottest part of the day. I’ve never run with any water, and often times found myself in an “oh shit” moment where I reeeeeeally needed some water, but was nowhere near a source.
I finally started running with a small soft flask (250ml) shoved into a running belt to get me past those moments. I’m not in love with my belt though - fits kinda strange and the pockets are a pain to use, so when I stumbled upon this belt by Raide, I was intrigued.
Check out these features:
No Bounce Design
It’s got a tightening system (this is RAD)
Also, check the 3mm of foam padding, with holes, for breathability and support.
Good storage throughout
Comes with 650mL Hydrapak flask with their new low profile locking cap
Keep your eye on this company. They only have a few products, but they’ve got the juice. Looking forward to seeing them grow and make more rad stuff.
Apple Nano-Texture Display
My M1 MacBook Air has honestly performed near flawlessly, even still, but I use it for everything - work, surfing the internet, writing this newsletter, editing videos, editing photos, etc. Everything.
I’ve always struggled with turning off work-mode, which then turns into burnout. To combat this, I work from coffee shops every morning in effort to create a mental shift separation of work and home, but my issue was still every time I had my laptop open, I felt like I was in work-mode.
So to create another separation, I bought another laptop.
Now:
M1 MacBook Air - Work
M4 MacBook Pro - Everything else
I went with the base M4 MacBook Pro, and being that I work outside a ton, I opted for the Nano-Texture Display, a $150 add-on.
A week in: So worth it.
I guess I just accepted that I’d always be dealing with reflections if I’m by a window or working outside, so to have a display that does such a wonderful job dispersing light is such a revelation.
Fun fact: Apple’s nano-texture is not a coating, but rather etched into the glass.
If you are in the market for a new Apple laptop, and work outside or near a window, definitely try this out in store.
New Buck Mason items I’m Eyeing
Newport Nylon Swim Short - Classic style swim short. Kinda Sean Connery vibes.
Como Cashmere Polo - Kind of in the same classy/classic style of the swim shorts above. Just something you’d wanna be wearing on the coast in Italy
Feel Flows Linen Shirt - Love this oatmeal color. I’m also now realizing that I’m just selecting stuff that feels really summer in the 50s. I must be on a kick.
The new Chamula x Buck Mason Huaraches are cool, but all I’ve been wearing as of late are my new J.Crew x Sperry collab - they are just too easy and go with a lot.
Quote I’m Pondering
“There are two types of people. Those who want to know more and those who want to defend what they already know.
So many people are afraid of changing their mind when most of their beliefs aren't even theirs to begin with.” - Alex Hormozi
Song I’m Listening To
Four Corners - Digable Planets
p.s. Are you subscribed to my YouTube Channel where I go in depth on all of this kind of stuff??? You should be.
p.p.s. Some of these links may toss me a commission without costing you any extra.
Cheers!

It’s hard to describe how good the Raide belt is. Big time IYKYK piece of gear.
Yet to find a replacement for pre-2017 Nike and Lulu athletic gear. The drop off in quality (especially Lulu since more expensive) is staggering
