Jaw-Dropper
BMW Z8
This is up there as one of the most beautiful cars ever made. I actually remember seeing this at a dealership in person when it was out - I was stunned.
I’m such a sucker for cars with proportions like this - short truck, long hood. (which is why Jaguar E-Type might be my favorite car)
Interesting play with the drivetrain, which was plucked from my all-time favorite sedan, the E39 M5:
Specs:
S62 V8 pushing 400hp.
Quarter mile in 13 flat.
With the limiter deactivated, it’s said they can hit 180. (E39 M5 can do more, j’sayin.)
These were super pricey when they came out ($128k), so sales weren’t stellar. First year, BMW only sold 317 in the US. In total, only 5703 were built, and owners are well aware, as they’re now commanding between $200-$300k.
Life in the Slow Lane
Ian Fleming Daily Routine
If you don’t know who Ian Fleming is… you actually do. He’s the creator of James Bond.
This week, I came across his daily routine while he was writing Bond novels out at Goldeneye, his famed Jamaica estate.
When I first read it, I was thinking to myself: “Man… what a fun, chill, life routine. I bet this dude lived to be 100. I need to start living like this.”
And then I looked him up and found that, oh, he had heart disease from his heavy drinking and smoking routine and died from a heart attack (not his first) at age 56. He looked WAY older than that too.
Basically every photo you see of Fleming is him with a cigarette.
So maybe draw some inspiration, but make a few adjustments is all I’m saying.
Style God Inspo
Paul Newman
Steve McQueen, Daniel Craig, Cary Grant, Robert Redford, JFK Jr.
Style gods.
But we can’t forget Paul Newman.
Here is your dose of Paul Newman style inspiration:
Style God Notes:
All of the aforementioned guys had objectively good style when it came to clothes, but if we’re being honest, it was really about how they carried themselves. They all had an air of effortlessness to them. Doing their thing without paying mind to what others thought. That’s what people are attracted to.
So do that. Just be really rich and good looking, alright?

Little Bit More (live) - Mk.gee ← Watch this live performance
I’ve been deep down a rabbit hole listening to all kinds of Mk.Gee stuff.
I read a YT comment that perfectly summarizes how I feel about his latest album: “this sounds like something beautiful from our childhood in the 80's that we can't quite recall, but also completely and wholly futuristic, a nostalgia that is completely tingly and exciting.”
edit: I got chills when after writing this, I watched an interview of him only to find him articulate that this was his goal for the album. He called it liminal, saying he wanted people to say “it feels like I’ve been here before, but there’s no possible way I could.” He also called it apocalyptic, brooding, with parts of it an homage to Jersey Rock. Truly taken aback by this album.
Mk.Gee posted a series of really rad live videos of songs from his new album - watch them. One commenter said - “You’re the Batman of music”.
Spot on.
p.s. Are you subscribed to my YouTube Channel where I go in depth on all of this kind of stuff??? You should be.
p.p.s. Some of these links toss me a commission without costing you any extra. This goes to buying more things so I can talk about them.
Cheers!

When the Z8 was introduced BMW held the press event at the Ritz Carlton in Pasadena (now the Langham). I was staying there on business and for a few days I would come out of the lobby every morning to find 12 or 15 freshly washed Z8s, tops down, arrayed around the circular drive waiting for the journos. Beautiful car from BMW's best era.
So we're going to act as if we didn't notice that beautiful 36mm Explorer on Ian's wrist?
